  • Session Three - Caring for the Workers (Part 1) 9

In the second half of this course, we turn from considering the situation of refugees, to the workers themselves (that is presumably you who are taking the course). Both of these sessions draw together a significant amount of outside material, which you may wish to skim read at this point and rea in more depth at a later date. This session considers refugee workers and the cost of caring: how refugee workers are affected by stress, cumulative stress, and vicarious trauma. Self-care is high-lighted and discussed, as well as the crucial role of debriefing.
