Outcomes

After completing this session you should:

• have a basic grasp of psychological first aid, its methods, limitations, dos and don’ts
• have an understanding of debriefing and critical incident debriefing for traumatised refugees, when each should be done, and who can do them
• have a deeper understanding of PTSD and when professional help should be sought
• have an understanding of loss, death and disappearance in the refugee experience, and appropriate responses
• Have insight into particular issues around child refugees and UASCs (unaccompanied asylum seeking children), and how to help them
