Outcomes
After completing this session you should:
- have a basic grasp of psychological first aid, its methods, limitations, dos and don’ts
- have an understanding of debriefing and critical incident debriefing for traumatised refugees, when each should be done, and who can do them
- have a deeper understanding of PTSD and when professional help should be sought
- have an understanding of loss, death and disappearance in the refugee experience, and appropriate responses
- Have insight into particular issues around child refugees and UASCs (unaccompanied asylum seeking children), and how to help them
